India Skeptical About Pakistan’S National Security Policy That Emphasises ‘Geo-Economics’ Over ‘Geopolitics'

Situation assessment as on 24/01/2022 | Price: Rs 700/-

Pakistan’s first-ever National Security Policy (NSP) lays emphasis on ‘geo-economics’ rather than its  traditional obsession with ‘geopolitics'. The study suggests this is an effort to codify the ‘Bajwa Doctrine’; that it is doubtful if the ‘geo-economic’ pivot will abandon anti-India policy; odds are Pakistan will not  change; that Pakistan’s precarious situation has compelled it to rethink its policies; that the NSP is too little a movement forward given Pakistan’s obsession with strategic and security issues; that no change is expected by India;  that Pakistan’s shady relations with fringe elements in Afghanistan and Kashmir will continue. The study also comes with a Comment on PAKISTAN’S NATIONAL SECURITY POLICY: OLD THOUGHTS IN NEW PACKAGING by Mahendra Ved, commentator on South Asian Affairs.
