The Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules 2021, announced recently,  have set off an acrimonious  debate among experts because at stake is the future of social and digital media in India and the manner in which they will either prosper or perish.  The new Rules will govern online content.
