Situation assessment as on 08/02/2021 | Price: Rs 800/-

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented, what is being called, an expansionary Budget for 2021-22 Monday, with a push for infrastructure and health care spending, even as she sought to reduce the fiscal deficit from an estimated 9.5% of GDP this year without ostensibly raising the tax burden. The study suggests that politically, this could be the boldest budget, true to BJP’s  ideological beliefs; the Budget’s philosophy on boosting demand; mixed signals on farm sector; more could have been done on the  health infrastructure: assessments on GDP projections; a transparent and credible fiscal deficit; capex allocation for infrastructure; bold measures on privatisation; inadequate on employment and social sector etc
