The Ukraine Crises: Implications for India

The Russia-Ukraine crisis has obvious implications for Indian foreign and security policies. It will, inter alia,  deepen Russia, China relations and harden Russia’s relations with  US. The study presents expert views to explain the emerging India-Russia-US-China  axis; that deepening alignment between Russia and China not in India’s interest; a conflict could deepen chasm in India-Russia relations; that the recent Russia, China joint statement signals a significant geopolitical shift with implications for India; a view that India’s ‘space in the renewed bloc politics is shrinking’; that ‘India needs to bide its time by managing differences and balancing interests’; that it is in India’s in interest to prevent a further deepening of Russia’s ties with China; that a conflict would complicate India’s partnerships with US, Europe, and Russia; could complicate  ‘India’s move to deepen security and economic ties with European partners’; the probable impact of imminent military action; and finally a suggestion that Neutrality best option for India.
