Jammu and Kashmir: Centre opens up Land Sale

J&K witnessed strong protests against the government amending land laws to open up urban or non-agricultural land for purchase by outsiders, permit contract farming on agricultural lands, provide for setting up of an industrial development corporation etc. The study presents expert views that are critical of the Centre creating a fait accompli on the ground; forcing a particular path of development upon people; and an alternate view of demographic change in Kashmir.
