India joined European countries in condemning Turkey’s President Erdogan, for his personal attacks against the French President Emmanuel Macron. The study seeks to understand the rationale behind India’s support to France when even the US, the UK or Australia have not spoken out in Macron’s support so far. Whatever the rationale, it is unusual for India to wade into a controversy over religion in another country.
