Pre’ Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Summit 2010 Conference

Asia News Agency organized the Pre OSCE Summit 2010 Conference. The conference was organized as a curtain raiser to the OSCE Summitto be held in Astana, Kazakhstan on 1and 2 of December, 2010. The presidency of the OSCEis presently with the President of Kazakhstan.
With 56 States, drawn from Europe, Centra lAsia and America, the OSCE is the world’s largest regional security organization, bringing comprehensive and co-operative security to are gion that stretches from Vancouver to Vladivostok. It conducts a wide range of activities related to all three dimensions of security — the human, the politico-military and the economic environment.
The objectives of the conference were to raise awareness about the OSCE, identify and discuss the shared commonalities of India and OSCE countries and to facilitate discussions among OSCE and non-OSCE nations, key bureaucrats and experts on key global issues including terror and security, economic constraints and considerations, conflict between growth and environment, organized crime like trafficking in persons, drug trafficking, money laundering, etc

The event was attended by the Ambassadors and diplomats of several countries including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tunisia, Yemen, Russia,Slovak, Georgia, Indonesia, El Salvador,Germany, Pakistan, Egypt, Algeria and Austria.

The lead speakers included Mr. Christian Matthias Schlaga, Minister, Embassy of Germany, Mr. Mohamed Abdel Latief E. Abdou, Press Councillor, Egyptian Embassy, Mr.Saeed Naqvi, Senior
Journalist and Fellow at Observer Research Foundation (ORF),Mr.Anjan Roy, Chief Economist and Head of Research and Studies Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI),Mr. P Venkata Rama Sastry, Anti Corruption and Crime Prevention
Expert, UN Organization of Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and Mr. Anil Bhatnagar, Director General, National Academy of Customs, Excise and Narcotics (NACEN).

The conference was chaired by former Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign External Affairs, Ambassador VK Grover, and co-chaired by His Excellency Mr. Doulat Kuanyshev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan.
